Volunteers going above and beyond for SCH: Meet Emily Milbourn
Emily Milbourn, a dedicated SCH volunteer, stocks the OR Surgeon’s Lounge with refreshments every day.
Editor’s Note: This article is the second in an ongoing series recognizing the extraordinary, selfless volunteers at Swedish Covenant Hospital. These volunteers are an important part of our healing environment. They reassure patients that they are not alone and add to the sense of goodwill and compassion that thrives in our hospital.
Many volunteers are available to help in your unit. If you know of a young professional who would like to volunteer, have a need for a volunteer in your unit or department, or would like ideas for projects to give to a volunteer in your department, please contact Jonathan Lind at ext. 1028 or JLind@SwedishCovenant.org.
If you know of a volunteer who deserves special recognition, please contact Tracy Hernandez at ext. 4042 or thernandez@SwedishCovenant.org.
Meet Emily Milbourn
SCH employees know when Emily Milbourn is volunteering in the hospital, because all is well in the areas where she completes her duties. And when she is not volunteering, she is missed.
“When Emily is away, people immediately notice and start calling me,” said Debra McWherter, director of Volunteer Services. “She does a great job, has a nice smile and is a much-needed asset to the hospital.”
Emily, 36, comes to work every day alongside her mother, Kathryn Milbourn (CMB). Emily takes great pride in stocking the surgical lounge in the OR with refreshments. She also helps in Patient Billing, works at the counter in the Gift Shop and helps with mailing and other projects in Marketing.
At 40 volunteer hours a week, Emily is likely SCH’s hardest working volunteer, and her work is much appreciated.
Thank you Emily!
