A special message about Magnet from Mark Newton

Hospital nurses pose together after the American Nurses Credentialing Center recognized SCH as a Magnet hospital.

As you heard last week, SCH is now a Magnet recognized hospital. I would like to extend my appreciation and congratulations to Chief Nursing Officer Mary Shehan and all of our nursing staff for their hard work throughout the four-year journey. You truly represent nursing excellence and are well-deserving of this prestigious status.

Being a Magnet hospital means our patients are receiving the best nursing care available. It means our nurses are working in a positive environment and are more satisfied with their jobs. And it means SCH serves as an international model for nursing care. I couldn’t ask for a more outstanding example of how SCH is truly achieving our vision to excel as the leading independent hospital in Chicago.

Achieving Magnet status is an important step in the hospital’s continued growth and success, and I thank all employees for your support in this endeavor throughout the past four years and as we continue on this journey.
