Check out the redesigned SCH & GLC websites, and a new online magazine
As you may have noticed over the past week, our consumer websites, SwedishCovenant.org and GalterLifeCenter.org have new designs. We have also launched a new local health website, Well Community, which serves as an online, interactive version of SCH’s printed community publication, Well magazine.
The three new sites are linked together through various forms of navigation — primarily the tabbing system at the top of the page and integrated modules throughout the sites. Together they further each organization’s reputation for wellness, medical expertise and a community focus. Throughout the sites, you will see branding and designs which play up “The science of feeling better” in a much more proactive way than the old sites. You will also see an increased use of the healing elements and graphic textures that convey a scientific, energetic message.
So please click on the links, explore the websites and read on about the new features available, how you can participate and how these new sites will assist our patients and promote our hospital.

The site has been redesigned to highlight priority messages for areas of growing technology, expertise and standards of care — such as the Chicago Back Institute, DaVinci, new CT scanner and Magnet designation — on the homepage and to provide a more user-friendly navigation experience.
It also features:
- Redesigned photo and video galleries, giving patients and consumers a visual glimpse into our beautiful healing environment, service lines and community programming.
- Updated content and colorful, reader-friendly pages promoting our medical services and allowing easy access to information.
- Calendar and events registration systems which span all three new sites and include SCH, GLC and community programs.
- An enhanced Find-A-Doc searching system.
- A more comprehensive health library.
- A health dashboard allowing patients to pay bills online, request appointments and retrieve health information.
- The ability to make donations to the Foundation.
The site has been upgraded to better serve GLC members looking for wellness resources and classes and to establish a clear link to SCH services with the goal of attracting members to SCH for health care. The program calendar has been upgraded, allowing for fee-based programs to be prominently featured along with complimentary programs.
Additionally, Facebook and other social networks are prominently displayed, as GLC's “Monday Madness” discounts on fee-based programs have been very successful endeavors.
Introducing Well Community, a local health resource
Well Community is an online news magazine and discussion forum specifically focused on health and wellness in these North side neighborhoods.
The idea behind this site is to localize national health news and trends using SCH, GLC and community experts, and report on neighborhood-based stories related to health and wellness. Well Community is also a place for North siders to interact and discuss health and wellness questions and ideas with each other.
The concept and strategy for the site is based off consumer feedback that they wanted local health news without corporate messaging. Like its predecessor Well magazine, Well Community is an extension of SCH and GLC in its mission to improve the health and wellness of our community. The site operates under the philosophy that being informed and connecting with the community are among the first steps toward healthy lifestyles and prevention.
As you click through, you will notice that most articles, blog entries and discussion forums have space for reader commentary. Most of these articles currently are not filled in or have few comments, as this is a brand new website – and this is one place where you can participate. As a SCH or GLC employee, you are the first to know about Well Community, and therefore have the opportunity to be the first to comment on articles and ask/answer questions of other readers through discussion boards.
So please:
- Add your perspectives and insights via the comments section at the end of articles.
- Share articles and videos by e-mailing them or posting them to your Facebook page.
- Participate in Discussions, where you can pose a question or share your thoughts about whatever topics are most important to you — be it parenting, gardening, running, coping with illness or stress, or even simply the best new restaurant in town.
